Has anyone else had problems with Orijen lately? We have a 9 month old German Shepherd puppy who we moved on to Orijen about 3 months ago after a lot of research. Up until last week we were really pleased with it. Our boy seemed to really like it, so much so we often used it as treats between meals. Then about a week ago he suddenly seemed to go off his food. We feed a mixture of kibble and wet food and at first we thought it was the wet food he had gone off but through a process of elimination we’ve established it’s definitely Orijen he has a problem with. He went off it shortly after we started a new bag so now I’m wondering if the recipe has changed. Has anyone else had a similar experience?

Is 38% protein too much for a puppy?

Why has this rating dropped recently? It used to be around 94% but now down to 85% with no obvious differences. Do you have a new rating system?

Do we know if the recipe has been changed since this was bought out by Mars? I’ve been using alternate brands since it was bought, just in case, but would ideally switch back if the recipe remains the same as before the buy out.

I have been feeding my 4 month old Golden Retriever with this since I got her. I researched for a long time before choosing this and I think she is thriving on it. However, now that Orijen has been bought out by Mars, I will be keeping a close eye on the ingredients for any unwelcome changes.

I don’t usually leave reviews or never found that I needed to as all my dogs have never had any diet/gut issues so most foods I give were fine but I just got a German shepherd puppy and they are known to have sensitive belly’s. I got him and his stool wasn’t the best it was very watery! And NOTHING was helping I tried everything! I used “logic firm” “plain yogurt” and various different dry foods and not a single one helped I used skinners, royal canin, wainwrights and Eden gradually introducing them as recommended by the brand and mixing with his old food (skinners) but none of these foods were helping with his stool until I found Orijen!! I was looking for something with a good amount of fibre in and this had it all although a little expensive it’s definitely worth every penny by the first day of just 25% Orijen and 75% old food his stool was so much better I finally cracked it he loves it too can’t get enough of it which is great! If you have a German shepherd I really couldn’t recommend this food enough I found that fibre really helps with this breed but sometimes you have to sacrifice something else in the process like protein but with Orijen it really is a good balance of everything! along side Orijen he now has pumpkin purée a tablespoon of that everyday. This combination has fixed all issues and I hope this helps anyone struggling with their puppy’s/dogs digestive/gut health issues.

The best dry food money can buy full of all the ingredients needed to make your pup/dog thrive that clearly other brands cannot compete with its a clear Winner for me this was too rich for my last dog so we gave him their other brand acana but this is perfect

If you have a big puppy, this is the best food you can get. PERIOD (as TsVin mentioned earlier). I have a European Great Dane and I started switching from Royal Canin Giant Puppy to this food about 10 days ago. With RC, his poops were huge and watery and he drank a lot of water. Like A LOT! Since I started the switch, his stool improved daily until the point that right now, 1st day after serving him only Orijen, it's absolutely perfect. He also drinks considerably less water and doesn't have to pee/poop that often. He's missing a few kilograms, even though RC recommends to feed your pup with a lot of their food, it seems that it didn't stick for him. Probably since it's about 50-60% corn and rice. With Orijen the recommended feeding dosage is about 3/4 of RC. Also, previosly, he didn't really want to eat everything out of his bowl, since RC doesn't really have any taste or smell, but with Orijen he licks the bowl clean every time, which makes me happy. Right now we're working on getting in tip-top shape, but so far, so good. His coat and energy level are great. The price may be a bit shocking for most people, but if you love your pup, (s)he deserves the absolute best, and this brand is it. I can only hope that they won't decrease the quality as everything is more expensive nowadays, in order to keep the same price. If they keep making it at the highest of standards I'm gonna buy it no matter the price. If anyone is interested, in Romania a 11,4KG bag is about 75Euros. 10/10 from me and my boy.

This is the best dry puppy food on the market. PERIOD My pup was being fed some disgusting trays when we got her. She was underweight and had the poops. After 3 days on this she was perfect!!! Ever since we have had no troubles with bad poops. She is perfect weight and growing up strong. The vet said to keep up with the food as it seems perfect for her. Yes, maybe some pup tummies cannot handle it but nothing is suitable for everyone!

Angelino is a 13 months old Newfoundland. He was on Hill's Large puppy but when I discovered this site, I realised there were better foods on the market. The transition was quite slow... approx 1 month to let him get used to it. He had zero problems. No upset tummy and no difference with regards to food quantity vs calories intake. He hoovers his bowl in 3 minutes... loves it. it is more expensive but it seems to be the very best on the market. it is a bit smelly, best if you keep it in the garage!
