High roughage, high calorie, very dry, tasteless, large kibble (similar to Lupo Sensitive but larger - same for dryness) - it depends what you want.

Just seen a Mini version of this on zooplus.. it gets excellent ratings on their from people who purchase and use it regularly even ones that have previously purchased more expensive dog foods ..all say its very palatable and firm poos... I will definitely give this a try with my two older small cross breeds

Hi, I was surprised by the recent rating value, plummeting from circa 85 to 68. I contacted the manufacturer of the food, to ask why, whether the food had been cost-engineered or changed in any way and they have confirmed the following; 'We have checked this with our central vendor management team and they confirm no changes have been made to this product since it was launched. Unfortunately, we cannot provide any insight regarding the change in the rating on the site in the link that you provided, as this is external and not something that we directly participate in. From a product perspective it's still the same. Please let me know if this information helps to answer your query, or if I can provide you with any further information. I will be happy to help you in any way I can.' I will be continuing to feed our dog this food as he's fingers crossed, and doing well.

Why has the rating for this food plummeted so dramatically?

W H Suzie one year ago
I belive its due to the high amount of grain they put in so they can put the price so low, I was considering this due the price but I'm now opting for guru.

I’m confused how this can get such a high rating if the first two ingredients are meat meal and corn?

I think they need to update this page, as the instant ingredients generator are showing that the current ingredients bring up quite a low score. I think Markus has changed the ingredients recently.

I have 5 cockerpoos and have always fed them markus muhle 1 of them has a very sensitive stomach but doesn't have any problem with this food, I measure it out and give it dry with water separate, thete coats are shiny, no skin problems, loads of energy, there ages are between 6yrs and 8yrs, bitiba online seems cheapest place to get this good quality food from, they do a deal on 2 15kg bags, hope this helps😃

It's cheap because it contains a huge amount of grain. I use it but iam changing it to wilsons

Where does it say this? I can't see it & the nominal amount of Brown Rice is beneficial. My two love it I mix it with Akela.

The second ingredient listed is Maize, for some reason this ingredient has not been given an amount/percentage. I cannot find this information. I don’t want to feed a lot of maize/corn, not very digestible for a dog particularly with rice as well. Perhaps someone could give this information?

I'm thinking of changing to this food from Millie's Wolfheart for my three terriers. It sounds great, but is so much cheaper than all other cold pressed, and other good quality foods too. Does anyone know why/how that's the case if it's a high quality food? Thanks!

Hi I’m thinking of changing my pooch to this brand, just wandering what it’s like for making them feel full with how it digests. My dog is 35kg he gets fed his 2nd meal at 10pm as by 8am his tummy is that empty he makes himself sick every morning before his 1st meal, I’ve had to start adding boiled rice to his meal so he feels fuller longer and isn’t sick. A dog food that digests quickly wouldn’t help him. Advice on this food pls?

Is he bringing up bile, or actually being sick? I ask as my boy suffers with acid reflux, so for a while until we figured out what the problem was, he was bringing up bile in the mornings, we changed to spacing his meals out into smaller portions but 4 meals a day (still the same daily amount though), this helped dramatically along side giving him omeprazole. We give him a snack before we go to bed and on waking too. If you feed raw, and he's bringing up bile with pieces of bone in it, then you are feeding too much bone content x

Hello can you feed this alongside Nutriment Raw food (as you can with Gentle)?

Hi, you can feed any cold pressed food with raw as they digest at the same rate.

Hi, I've just changed to Markus Mhule but the Aberdeen Angus vareity which has gone down a treat and the dogs both look great. A friend of mine has her dogs on the MM Natural Dog Food so I thought I would give that a try but I spotted Dried Peat on the ingredient list and was a little taken back. Does anyone know why this ingredient is in the dog food? I was previosuly on Millies Wolfheart and have been for years but with the cost of living increasing I've had no choice but to try and find a good but cheaper alternative!

Hi Annette , not sure where the translation " dried peat " comes from. It is a moor liquid , which is a natural ingredient widely used in Germany , but not very often in the UK. It is full of natural goodness , for example minerals and helps the keep the gut flora healthy.

Ive been feeding my springer sized mutt on MM for about six months now. She likes it but she’ll eat anything tbh but her mini schnauzer cousin picked some MM out of my dogs bowl in preference to her own Lily’s Kitchen. Not had a poo problem in fact this is the best it has been. The food is very heavy so feeding quantities look stingy. I think it’s excellent quality for the price and I understand they are ethical in their sourcing and manufacturing (hopefully!). My only slight reservation is my dog has steadily been increasing in weight since starting this food and I’ve been feeding her well below the guideline amount. I’m now writing everything she eats down and have my fingers crossed the culprit does not turn out to be this food else I’ll be back to the drawing board. I have noticed a few reviewers comment that this has helped get weight onto their underweight dogs so maybe isn’t a great choice for a greedy guts :-)

We have used MM for a while now, dogs love it and they are in fantastic condition, buying from Zooplus at a discounted price, use their saving scheme as well, its very important to weigh the food though, otherwise you will overfeed. Its always worth remembering recommended feeding guides are always on the generous size so keep an eye on your dogs weight and obviously reduce their intake if they start putting on too much, this food is quite deceiving to look at. My girl suddenly started excessively itching so we've changed over to the Black Angus variety of MM - (No maize) fantastic quality and pups love it and I don't think it smells as bad as the Naturah variety or maybe I've just got used to it, it maybe unrelated but neither of the dogs manage to clear us out of the room from their farts now either, no complaints here.

Hi, I have just started feeding this this last week and it almost immediately firmed up puppy's too soft poos! However I have a question. The pack says to feed 2.5% of body weight which mean my runt of the litter at 1.8kg (8 weeks) would only get 45g giving her only 123 calories. Everywhere says a puppy under four months of 1.8kg should get about 325 - 350 calories (RER x3)... anyone got any advise?? thanks

Hi Angela, I feed my dog Guru cold pressed dog food. If you look on their website gurupetfood.com, they have a really useful calculator for measuring the correct amount for your dogs weight. There is a puppy calculator too. I was surprised at the reduced feeding amount, but now I have got my head around it. The cold pressed does weigh heavier than conventional extruded kibble. My dog is doing really well on Guru Cold Presssd, and his body weight looks just fine. You can add water, which swells and increases the appearance of the volume being fed. Puppy might prefer it served like this too. The Guru website also illustrates this well in a video.
Hope this helps - good luck with your new babies! 🐶💕 xxx

Thank you for your response. I used the calculator on Guru's website and it says 50g a day and again their food only has 340kCals per 100g so based on http://www.petmd.com/blogs/... and numerous other independant websites on dog nutrition 50 would provide less than 1/2 the calories my puppy needs...... confused!

Has anyone had any issues with reliability of this food? I swapped my puppy to this from wagg puppy at 4 months. As soon as I changed he was always ready for it, looking in the bag if he managed to get to it! On the second bag he was not as keen, recently I have been picking the food back up and putting it down again 3 or 4 times before he eats anything. I have recently had another new bag, not sure why I ordered it really. He is just refusing it, he is fed twice a day and yesterday it was 6pm before he had the first meal, never had a second. The only difference is the first bag was bought direct the others from zooplus, all are well within date. I the just bought a bag of orijen puppy and he eat as soon as the bowl was put down.

Hi Louisa,
I think you may need to change your food. Why dont you try a high meat content food such as Eden or Orijen? I think yoiur dog is trying to tell you that he doesnt enjoy his food !
Ive got my 2 Bichons on Eden and they absolutely devour every morsel I would never go back to high grain content foods now x

I have recently switched to this brand of dog food after seeing reviews on here. My dog - male whippet - loves it but although it has been several weeks now since we switched he is still pooing up to 3 or even 4 times per walk, My understanding is that this only happens with inferior dog foods so I am confused. Any advice much appreciated.

My adult dogs have been changed over to this. Even though the sack has a lot of dust in the bottom, my dogs love it. Although I feel mean because the bowls are lighter to look at because the food his heavier.

My extremely active Border Collie was on the only UK based, five star expert rated food according to this site, but had lost a serious amount of weight on that despite me trying everything - including working with the company to try to make the food work for him. In the end, I had to change his food, and decided on Markus Muehle.
He absolutely loves it, and is putting the much needed weight back on. His coat is shiny and he is healthy again. It makes it's own gravy when mixed with some warm water, which my dog adores. I'm really pleased I made the change to Markus Muehle, and wish I'd chosen to feed him this a long time ago, as it would have saved months of worry and hassle!
